We know one of the first things that act as a hurdle to clients getting their new website, is worrying about “not even knowing where to start”. Unfortunately, a significant number may also have had a bad experience with previous web design services in the past – even from “big names” that they thought they could trust.
Here’s a step by step run through of what you can expect working with Super Simple, to hopefully put your mind at ease, and get the ball rolling!
Step One: Give us a call
…or an email, or a text, or a whatsapp – whatever you find easiest! You’ll have a very quick chat with me, Claudia – owner of Super Simple Websites, and the one that will be your key contact from start to finish. We’ll talk about your business and what webdesign package may be best – this is also a great opportunity to fire any questions you may have my way!
Once you’re happy to do so, we’ll book you in for a 30 min zoom call to go through things in more detail. You’ll get a confirmation email that contains a checklist of the kind of things we’ll be talking about – don’t worry, it’s not homework! You’re not expected to prepare things in advance, but it does help to have a read over the points and have a think before we next speak.
Step Two: Consultation
We’ll send through a link to a Zoom meeting shortly before your consultation – all you need to do is click the link, and pop the kettle on! During this zoom, we’ll talk about your business and requirements in a bit more detail, including:
- Any existing branding or colours to be used
- What you domain name (web address) could be, if you don’t already have one
- We’ll check out your competition and other websites, to get an idea of what you like and dislike
We’ll also clear up any more questions you have since we last spoke, and deal with any nagging concerns. Once you’ve given the thumbs up that you’re happy to proceed, we’ll book in your homepage draft!
Step Three: Get Your Free Homepage Draft
As you may have spotted throughout the site, we offer a completely free homepage draft service – this means you get to preview your website and make sure you’re going to be delighted before you’ve even paid a deposit.
During your zoom, you’ll be given a date to expect your homepage draft (normally 5-7 days later). You’ll receive a link to your homepage draft, along with a short video walking you through, and explaining why things are there, or alternative options. Your draft may not be completely perfect, and may make use of “dummy” lipsum text in places – its purpose is to really make sure you’re happy with the general look and feel of the site before you go ahead. Typically, this is quite an exciting stage – it’s becoming real!
Once you’ve seen the draft and confirmed you’re happy with it, it’s just a £50 deposit, and you don’t pay a penny of the balance until the site is live and you’re chuffed to bits!
Step Four: Site Revisions
Once you’ve approved your homepage draft, we have a rough template for the aesthetics of the site to work from. This is when we move on to building up the rest of the site.
At this stage, we’ll need some content from you. Don’t stress about writing lengthy passages though – generally some detailed bullet points about what you do and what your business is about all thats needed.
If you’re featuring a portfolio or previous work, we’ll need you to send photos. You can do this however you find easiest – email, whatsapp, WeTransfer or whatever you like. We can also lift photos from your social media if already uploaded.
For ecommerce websites (that’s an online shop), we send you a template product listing to fill in with your product information, and we take care of the rest. We also have a template postage system for you to complete to make this easier.
We update the draft site, and send it to you for feedback, generally on 5-14 day intervals depending on how quickly you can get back to us. We get your feedback, make some adjustments based on it, and repeat. Generally, there are 3-4 rounds of revisions, before you’re left with a site you’re completely delighted with – then its time to go live!
Step Five: Go Live!
Get the bubbles (or a celebratory cuppa) ready – it’s time for your site to go live! We’ll ask you to give the final thumbs up that you’re happy for the site to go live, and take care of everything.
Once live, you receive a handover sheet that includes your own unique login details, details on how to access your new email address if needed, and both a PDF and video tutorial on how to make basic changes to your website yourself. Of course, if you’re ever stuck we’re just an email away, or we have a range of optional maintenance packages for more regular support
